@Giuseppe Fontanella | Product Designer @ Linx
The Linx ERP system was originally built for large companies. We later adapted it as an online tool (SaaS) for construction retail businesses. But its old design was confusing and made common tasks take too long. This was a real headache for busy users in construction stores.
We talked directly with people using the system and used tools like Hotjar to see where they struggled. We discovered a big issue: users often had to click up to ten times more than they should to get a task done! Important clients, like Saint-Gobain and Yamamura, pointed out specific problems: buttons were hard to find, labels on fields weren't clear, and important visuals like product pictures were missing.
We decided to completely redesign the system, focusing on the users' needs. We called this new version Linx UX. This project showed how important it is to listen to users when updating older software.
